Krka Monastery

The Monastery of the Holy Archangel Michael on the Krka river, the most important spiritual centre of the Serbs in Dalmatia. Tradition holds that it is the endowment of Jelena, sister of Emperor Dušan, who married Prince Mladen Šubić. A seminary operated at the monastery, and beneath it lie underground catacombs from the Roman period.
