Budapest, Pest · Hungary

The endowment of Sava Tekelija, founded in 1838 in Pest, where the best and poorest Serbian pupils and students from all the lands inhabited by Serbs were educated. Because of the many intellectuals who grew up there it was called the “Serbian Pantheon”, and until 1864 its building also housed the Matica Srpska. The present building at 17–19 Veres Pálné Street was built in 1909.
